Air Operations Officer III

The Air Operations Officer III is responsible for planning and directing the use of fixed and rotary-wing aircraft for the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. This classification provides advice and council in all aspects of the Aviation Management Program and coordinates CAL FIRE air operations on fires and other forestry projects or emergency programs.

Knowledge

Must possess knowledge equivalent to the Air Operations II position plus knowledge of special applications of rotary wing aircraft, and fire manager’s use of aircraft as well as principles of effective supervision.

Abilities

Must possess abilities equivalent to the Air Operations II position plus must be able to maintain cooperative working relationships with contractors and fellow employees.
